Onboarding phases: Defined and streamlined
We’ve structured the onboarding process into distinct phases for a more manageable approach. Each phase has a specific scope, which refers to a set of tasks or features and functions that need to be implemented. You’ll find a detailed description of all tasks within the Asana onboarding tool.
Guided Checkpoints
While you’ll be actively leading many of the tasks, you won’t be alone! A Sympa expert will accompany you through 10 key checkpoints.
At every checkpoint, come prepared with any questions you’ve accumulated. Together, in an online session, we’ll address them and provide clarity. We’ll also outline the subsequent steps in your onboarding adventure.

Allocating Time and Scheduling Your Onboarding Journey
- Time and Motivation: It’s essential that all participants allocate enough time and bring enthusiasm to the onboarding tasks. Let’s maintain our momentum and back each other up throughout this journey!
- Remember to set aside time on a weekly basis: We’ve estimated the time required for tasks in each phase. However, actual time may vary based on your work style and decisions made during onboarding. Please check the table above for time estimates concerning checkpoints and self-service work!
- Involving Your Team: At times, you’ll need input from colleagues, especially those in HR or IT.
- Integrating with Other Systems: When integrating connectors with other system providers, keep in mind the schedules of third-parties. Their timelines can influence your progress. What are Sympa work packages?
Let’s talk about an exciting part of your Sympa journey: the work packages. In our Sympa Onboarding, we have four main packages named Core 1, Core 2, Leave, and Development.
Wondering how it all works? Let’s break it down step by step:
1 Explore features
Kick things off by exploring each feature’s description. This gives you a clear understanding of how each one functions. For instance, the Core 1 work package boasts five features, including essentials like Employment Details and Personal Details.
2 Fill in a specification survey
We have a survey that asks about the changes included in the Sympa Onboarding. Don’t worry; we give you clear instructions and even show you parts of the Sympa system to help. And guess what? If you’re ever unsure, we have an online checkpoint set up just to help you out.
3 Relax, We’re on It!
Once you’ve made your selections in the survey, you can take a short break. We’ll set up everything in Sympa just the way you want it.
4 Try It Out and Learn
Now, it’s time to dive in and get a real feel for Sympa. Log in and undertake the tasks provided to test the features within each work package. After all, there’s no better way to master the system than through hands-on experience!
Things to consider
- Regular Onboarding Time: We recommend blocking off some time each week specifically for onboarding activities. This approach will help you stay focused and organised, ensuring that all necessary resources are readily available for the onboarding process.
- Collaborative Support: You’ll likely need assistance from your IT department and possibly from your HR colleagues as well. If you wish you can also invite one of the managers and employees to learn about Sympa with you. It’s a good idea to give them a heads-up in advance.
- Proactive Planning for Success: As you embark on the Sympa onboarding journey, reflect on the additional steps you can take to ensure success. What extra preparations or collaborations might enhance your onboarding experience?
